Keely Jones and Mark Stater became man and wife this past Sunday, July 20, 2008. Bob and I were there for the nuptials and we had a great time. As you can see from the above picture, Keely looked beautiful in her flowing gown and 3/4 satin gloves. So beautiful, in fact, that you could see the outline of a smile on Mark’s face all day long.
The wedding was held at the bride’s home church, Kirkville Wesleyan Church, where Pastor Dr. Kelvin Jones serves as senior pastor. Pastor Kelvin’s wife, JoAnne Jones, is a long time friend of mine who loves to write almost as much as I do. She’s also a beautiful woman and a talented pianist, who writes her own music. No wonder Keely has so many good qualities. Her mom and dad are some of the brightest and most loving people I know.
Here, I’ve attached a photo of the bride and groom, with HER parents (my friend, JoAnne and her husband Doctor Jones)…yes, i did giggle when they announced him for his toast at the wedding reception. He did not have a whip in his hand, however!
The wedding ceremony took place during a thunderous rain storm that drenched everything that wasn’t under cover. At one point, i thought the lights might go out and we’d be treated to a candlelite service. No such luck. Still, I think Mark and Keely could have lit up the entire sanctuary with their love, if they had to.
Tiaras are big this year and this one looks stunning atop Keely’s head.
Following the service, we drove to Cazenovia, NY for the reception, held in an old building of magnificent proportions. The ceilings were high, but the rooms were cozy. We had the best time. Bob and I were seated with old friends from BCWC, so we had plenty of opportunity to catch up on one another’s lives. Despite the rain, it was a wonderful day.
Mark has recently accepted a position at a school in Connecticut, so he and Keely will be relocating from Atlanta, GA (where they met).
Good luck, Keely & Mark! And thanks for including us in your special day.
