Happiness

If you look for truth, you may find comfort in the end; if you look for comfort you will not get either comfort or truth only soft soap and wishful thinking to begin, and in the end, despair.  C S Lewis

I have heard it said that making happiness one’s end goal in life will most certainly result in missing the mark.  I think its true.  Happiness comes to us through achievement, working hard to obtain something and then having it–practicing our numbers, letters, and multiplication tables until we can give the correct answer whenever someone asks us to identify one of them.

Spending life wishing for happiness will only lead to disappointment.  Instead, get busy serving others.  Make their happiness your goal.  Do all that you can for them, so that their life is better when you walk away than before you came.  Serve with all your might. Use your gifts every day.  Put a smile on someone else’s face.  Doing this will lead to happiness, propel us toward joy, enfold us with bliss and at the end of our days Jesus will look our way and say well done, good and faithful one. Well done.

Happiness won.
