Absolute Trust

000gullsAs I watched the seagulls, I thought, “That’s the road to take; find the absolute rhythm and follow it with absolute trust.” Nikos Kazantzakis

Why do we have this insane urge to know the end before the story’s been told?

Why all the angst when we can’t find a quick and easy solution to our problems?

Why do we keep striving, and pushing, and pulling, and shoving to get somewhere when every foot fall ends in frustration?

When can we know if our efforts in these ways are outside of God’s will and working at odds with his plan for us?

Good questions, all, but only God knows these things.

What I have found true is that only God can deliver us from our restless state of confusion, and help us find the absolute rhythm that makes it possible for us to trust absolutely. Only God.

It is through Christ Jesus that we are granted a calm heart and a clear conscience.

It is through Jesus that our melody is mingled with eternity’s lyrics to create a completely, hauntingly beautiful song.

Through Jesus, human hearts bind with divinity so that the flow of crimson from a cross-shaped oak produces salvation.

Only through association with the Triune God is the source of absolute trust and harmony, and peace discovered.

Today, if you are at odds with the world and struggling to find that absolute rhythm that creates absolute trust, please consider Jesus. Invite His Holy Spirit to come in, rest in you, abide with you, guide you in every decision you make today. Stop struggling and surrender to His pace and His plan. If you do, peace will be your lot in life. If you don’t, I suspect you will continue to struggle, hoping for what the gulls have but never quite finding it.

Jesus waits. Call on Him.

Trust God from the bottom of your heart;
don’t try to figure out everything on your own.
Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go;
he’s the one who will keep you on track.
Don’t assume that you know it all.
Run to God! Run from evil! Prov 3:5-7 MSG
