We are the Lord’s and He is ours so all those things that concern us, yeah, they matter to Him too. So why is it so difficult for us to figure out where our will ends and His begins? If you’re like me and are distracted by shiny things, it’s even tougher.
Difficult as it is to determine God’s will for us, there are a few simple disciplines we can practice that make it easier. Here are some I have employed with great success in the past. Please feel free to add yours in the comment section below.
1 Extend love to others. Love covers over a multitude of sins, and besides, it’s a great place to begin any journey toward understanding.
2 Share your burdens with others. The Bible says there is wisdom in many counselors. Let people know you’re struggling, and ask them to join you in prayer.
3 Drink in God’s Word as often as you can. He speaks to the nations through his Divine revelation, unveiled in the Scriptures.
4 Be willing to enter into a time of silent meditation. After all, should God be asked to compete with the world for our attention?
5 Do that next right thing! Actions often speak louder than words.
What strategies have you used in the past to determine God’s will. How does God most often speak to you?
